How do I create a new domain? (Accounts created before Dec 06)
|
1. In your VDS control panel, click on "Domain Settings" in the left menu. 2. Under the domain list, click the "New" button. 3. Check/uncheck whether this domain will use your account's mail server. 4. Enter the domain name (i.e. yourdomain.com) and the path on the server where the public html files will reside. 5. If the domain name is just an alias pointing at the main domain, choose "Default". If it is a new domain for a seperate website, choose "Custom" and type the path for the html files. (You may have to delete the default text before typing your path). e.g. "/var/www/html/YOUR_DIRECTORY_HERE". NOTE: you must create the directory via ftp or SSH before you can create the domain that will point to it for html content AND you can put the directory anywhere - not just under /var/www/html.. 6. Click Finish It will take up to 3 hours for the Name Server to update and add this domain name to be active. You can access your web-content using your primary domain name until the Name Server is updated. E.g. http://primarydomain.com/newdomaindirectory/ Once the Name Server is updated, you can then use the newdomain name E.g. http://yourdomain.com
